The CD follows a flowery theme which is seen in the backdrop of the CD of Rihanna stretching out across a garden of red roses. This scene portrays femininity and as Rihanna is shown laying on a bed of roses the image displays a slight vulnerability to the singer.
The natural scene the singer is in gives a sense of natural beauty, this will attract the female audience and the sense of lust physically will attract the male audience. The exposure of cleavage in this scene will also attract male audience.
The pale pink colour contrasts the bold red back drop which could signify another side to Rihanna and her music, a softer more gentle side. The CD contrasts Rihannas front cover image especially as the pale colours on the CD differ from the bold
image.
The shot of Rihanna fills the whole cover so she is the whole image which in turn makes us focus on her, fulfilling the element of star persona since the cover is all her.

The colour red as the front cover definitely catches the audience’s eye as red is a bold colour.
The continuous use of the colour red throughout the album is effective as the use of red connotes the idea of passion and seductiveness which could link to the lyrics of some of the songs.
The use of red objectifies Rihanna, especially due to the red lipstick that she is wearing and the red hair which portrays her as dominant and bold as these are connotations the colour red brings. The colour red attracts her male audience.
The text on the album cover is minimal, there is only two words on the album which are written in white. White connotes pureness and adds to both the feminine and romance theme which runs throughout the digipack.
The cover compliments the typography as it says 'Loud' and the image supports this as red is a loud colour. The image of rihanna on the front cover also comes across as loud and powerful. This is because the audience recieve a lot of emotion through rihannas body language and facial expression.
